Scheme Overview & Benefits
An umbrella price support scheme designed to protect farmers from distress sales and market price drops below the Minimum Support Price (MSP). PM-AASHA operates through three vital mechanisms:
Price Support Scheme (PSS): Physical procurement of pulses (Gram, Moong, Urad, Tur), oilseeds (Groundnut, Mustard, Soybean), and copra directly at official MSP rates through central agencies like NAFED and state federations.
Price Deficiency Payment Scheme (PDPS): Direct cash compensation paid directly into the farmer's bank account covering the price difference between MSP and the actual lower modal selling price in authorized APMC mandis (without physical crop procurement).
Market Intervention Scheme (MIS): Direct procurement support for non-MSP horticultural and perishable agricultural produce (such as onions, garlic, and potatoes) during sudden market glut.
