A dedicated Central Sector Scheme aimed at transforming Makhana (Foxnut / Gorgon Nut - Euryale ferox) into a high-value global superfood crop:
Cultivation & Field Pond Subsidy: Financial assistance up to 50% for high-yielding improved seed varieties, field-pond method preparation, and input kits to expand cultivation beyond traditional water bodies.
Processing & Popping Machinery: Capital grants up to 50% for purchasing automated roasting, popping, grading, cleaning, and vacuum-packaging machinery to replace strenuous manual processing.
FPO & Value-Addition Clusters: Financial assistance to Farmer Producer Organizations (FPOs) and cooperatives for establishing modern storage godowns, cold chains, branded retail packaging, and export certification.

Farmers, aquatic cultivators, Self-Help Groups (SHGs), and Farmer Producer Organizations (FPOs) engaged in or taking up makhana cultivation and processing.
