Scheme Overview & Benefits
Implemented by the Directorate of Horticulture, Gujarat, this scheme extends financial assistance to farmers for constructing raw (bamboo/wire) and permanent (galvanized iron wire/RCC poles) trellis (mandap) structures for growing climber vegetables (such as bitter gourd, bottle gourd, sponge gourd, pointed gourd, ridge gourd, tomato, and cucumber). Under this scheme, general category farmers receive 50% subsidy up to ₹16,000 to ₹25,000 per hectare for raw mandap and up to ₹50,000 per hectare for permanent mandap, while Scheduled Caste (SC) and Scheduled Tribe (ST) beneficiaries receive up to 70% to 75% subsidy. Training vegetable creepers on trellises prevents soil-borne fruit rotting, improves sunlight penetration, enhances fruit luster and length, and boosts commercial productivity by 35% to 40%.
Eligibility Criteria
The applicant must be a resident farmer of Gujarat possessing registered agricultural land (7/12 & 8-A records).
The farmer must cultivate recommended climber vegetables or tomato crops on the proposed land.
Material (GI wire, poles, nets) must be purchased from authorized registered manufacturers/dealers with GST tax invoices.
The assistance is capped at a maximum of 2 hectares per farmer beneficiary.
Aadhaar-linked bank account, caste certificate (for SC/ST), and prior approval from the District Horticulture Officer are mandatory.
